About Jibs

Jibs Abitoye is your neighbour and was re-elected as city councillor to serve a four year term from 2021-2025
Jibs was born in Lagos, Nigeria to a Journalist father and an Information Technology mum. She moved to Fort Saskatchewan finallyΒ Β  almost 10 years ago after getting married to the love of her life, Joshua. They are blessed with three children, Timi, Diji, and Tami.

She has a bachelor’s of science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos, is a 4th class power engineer from NAIT, and is certified as a Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.

Jibs’ previous work experience includes Financial Services Representative at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Project Cost Controller at Dow Chemical, and Credit Risk Analyst at the Guaranty Trust Bank.

Jibs is an active member of the City’s various municipal boards and has been Council representative on the following municipal, provincial, and federal boards and committees:

Jibs is a local business owner and an avid volunteer. Prior to becoming a councillor she volunteered on the Family & Community Support Services Board, Navy League Cadet, and as Chair of the Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association. She is also a dedicated volunteer in her local church, Place of Rest, where she works on the Benevolence group that runs the Community Food Pantry.
Jibs is a strong believer in being a voice for those who are vulnerable and promoting diversity and inclusion. She believes that as the city makes decisions concerning programs, plans, policies, and investments that no one should be excluded on the basis of their age, gender, race, disability, income, or any other identity factor.
Jibs is a lover of God, loves to dance, and loves to hang out with family and friends.
